The Seahorse is a majestic sea creature that swims gracefully through the sea grasses. My idea was to create a tranquil underwater setting and represent the seahorse in a traditional leadlight glass scene, complete with a sandy ocean floor, shells and corals. This piece has approximately 160 pieces of hand cut glass that I have individually selected for both colour and texture to achieve my underwater Seahorse scene. The fins of the seahorse are made from iridescent glass that reflect hints of rainbow colours. For the ocean background I used a blue rippled glass so that it gives the effect of glistening water. As I am a proud female woodcrafter, I then designed and made the timber frame from Hoop Pine featuring the unique natural live edges that are all secured to a solid Hoop Pine base. I have also integrated LED Lighting in the back to light up all of the glass colours so that you may enjoy this tranquil, ocean, Seahorse scene at any time of the day or night.
